چکیده
A 58-year-old man with diabetes mellitus abruptly developed left-sided peripheral facial palsy, abduction paresis of the left eye and concomitant skew deviation with left-sided hypertropia (Picture 1). There were no other neurologic abnormalities. The findings of an electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, carotid ultrasonography and cranial magnetic resonance (MR) angiography were normal. Cranial MR imaging demonstrated localized infarction in the left-sided most dor-

Homocystinemia Leading to Bright Facial Colliculus - A Rare Entity in
IntroductionThe facial colliculus is an elevated area located on the dorsal pons in the floor of the 4th ventricle. It is produced by the nucleus of the abducens nerve and the flexure of the facial nerve around it. Any lesion involving the abducens nucleus cause the disorder of internuclear ophthalmoplegia (INO) which is characterized by ipsilateral adduction deficit and the preservation of abd...

1) Studies were made of the accessory abducens nucleus and its relationship to the extraocular muscles besides the retractor bulbi muscles in the rat. 2) All the extraocular muscles had nerve fiber connections from the accessory abducens nucleus besides the retractor bulbi muscles. 3) The relationship between the accessory facial nucleus and accessory abducens nucleus was investigated. The acce...

A 51-year-old woman with breast cancer presented with progressive diplopia. Neuro-ophthalmologic examination revealed right gaze palsy and peripheral facial nerve palsy. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was normal. However, two months later a repeat brain MRI revealed an enhancing round nodular mass at the right facial colliculus of the lower pons, at the location of the abducens nucleus....

Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a common childhood infectious disease in developing countries. It may be associated with various life threatening intra-cranial or extra-cranial complications. We report a 10 year-male child with a rare combination of right sided unsafe CSOM, mastoiditis, Bezold abscess, sigmoid and transverse sinus thrombosis, and bilateral abducens nerve palsy and ...
